If you want trouble, fall in love with a valuable endangered eagle. A young Aussie boy named Cody befriends such a bird of prey after setting it free from the greedy McLeach’s trap. The poacher doesn’t get his desired bird, but a feisty hostage instead. Still hankering for the sweet moolah an endangered animal will score, McLeach takes Cody prisoner until the nest location is disclosed. What a great movie plot for the psyche of vulnerable, developing kids! Terrified children are about to learn 4 things a captive must never forget.
Beware of Cynical Koala Bears

As McLeach’s hostage Cody is stuck with many unfortunate Australian wildlife, one of which is a disagreeable koala bear. Sadly this captive can’t imagine freedom and spends all his energy mocking the escape plans of the others.
Moses was well acquainted with mockers. To make matters worse, Moses had already led the Israelite nation out of captivity (God did the heavy lifting/all the lifting), but they couldn’t focus on the freedom in front of them.
Exodus 14:11-12 (NIV)They said to Moses, “Was it because there were no graves in Egypt that you brought us to the desert to die? What have you done to us by bringing us out of Egypt? Didn’t we say to you in Egypt, ‘Leave us alone; let us serve the Egyptians’? It would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the desert!”
It’s best to ignore mockers and keep your nose in God’s Word.
Psalm 1:1-2 (NIV)Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night.
Help is Coming!

Cody doesn’t know it but help is already on the way; an S.O.S. call went out the moment he was bushwhacked.
God knows the desperate condition of every person on the globe. He knew when the Israelites suffered under the oppression of Egypt and sent help.
Exodus 3:7 (NIV)
The Lord said, “I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering.
Instead of a mouse in a fluffy purple hat and scarf, God sent Moses with a staff to set His people free.
Your Enemies will be Destroyed
McLeach has been howling and threatening Cody throughout the whole movie, so it’s especially satisfying to see McLeach destroyed by his own trap.

God’s deliverance for Israel, was used to destroy her enemies.
Exodus 14:13-14, 28 (NIV)13 Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. 14 The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”… 28 The water flowed back and covered the chariots and horsemen—the entire army of Pharaoh that had followed the Israelites into the sea. Not one of them survived.
Restored Relationship Awaits
The mockers are silenced, your enemies are destroyed, and help has set you free. Now it’s time to enjoy restored relationship. Cody can enjoy unlimited eagle rides! Yay!

The Lord delivered the Israelites through miraculous means, so his people could worship Him again.
Exodus 19:4
You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt, and how I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself.
Wow. What a good narrative. Revenge is mine, sayeth the Lord. Amen.

It’s nice to have it memorized so you can remember that God will “whock’em” and He is a qualified judge.
